There’s a change this week… I’m saying hello on Friday instead of Sunday 👋
Even though I save notes throughout the week, I always finish writing this newsletter on the day it goes out. This meant that I was taking time away from rest to work on this, which I realised I didn’t enjoy so much. So, I’m moving the newsletter to Fridays instead.
The last few days have been a little tougher than normal, and it’s also been another mostly non-work week. I’ve loved the time off but I’m also excited to start some new routines and re-find my love for my tiny businesses. 💛
This week’s focus: show up how you want + when you can
Consistency. It’s something we’re told is really important and while it is, it’s also super hard for lots of us to achieve — especially if you’re introverted, neurodivergent, disabled, or just find it difficult.
When you see so many voices saying you need to show up X times a week and schedule content here there and everywhere, I want to be a voice reminding you to show up how you want + when you can.
If your goal is to beat the algorithm, then maybe consistency is relevant. But when it comes to showing up as yourself and finding your confidence or voice, it’s way less important.
Say something on LinkedIn five times today and zero times for the next three days. Post to Instagram every day for three weeks + then take a break because you can’t find time for it. Join a community with the best intentions but then stay quietly in the background until you’re ready to dive in.
Things will still be there when you’re ready (or able) to join in. Don’t rush to be super active on social media, to answer every thread in a slack community, or to help everyone in your community. Take your time, consider your energy levels, and do what feels right for you. 💛
