Hiiiiii! 😊
It’s currently Sunday evening and I’m reflecting on the past week, like always. It’s been a mixed week to be honest - lots of time spent out of the house, pitching for work, and taking care of my farm on Stardew. 🐮
The end of the week was definitely harder than the start, though - and it was all my own fault. What happened inspired this week’s focus 👇
This week’s focus: you’re making progress, even if it feels like you’re not (and especially if you fail)
Progress isn’t a straight line all the way up.
You’re going to stall, run into setbacks, and even fall back a little. But that’s okay. It happens, and it’s normal.
Failing or falling behind can feel really bad — like you’re not getting anywhere with your goals, habits, or (in my case) OCD. Whether it’s a “no thank you” for a role you really wanted, a morning routine that you just can’t stick to, or you find yourself getting upset at something, these moments hurt. And they can also make you feel like you aren’t getting anywhere.
That’s one way to look at it, and it’s totally natural to approach it that way. BUT, if you’re open to it, these setbacks and failures can be reframed in a new way. It might not be the progress you wanted, but it’s progress all the same.
These moments can act as a reminder that we are:
Resilient and able to do hard things
Capable of avoiding temptation and getting things done
Open to trying new opportunities
Being active in chasing our goals
Kind to ourselves and others
One step closer to achieving that thing we really want
Setbacks are normal. Failing is normal. In the moment and for some time after, it feels bad. But once that feeling passes, I hope you can look back and find a glimmer of success, hope, or resilience. 💛
