Good evening! 😊
This week’s update is a little shorter than normal, but hopefully just as helpful! Basically, this past week (or longer) I’ve been under the weather and it’s really affected my productivity, motivation, and ability to get things done.
All the essentials get taken care of, but it leaves little room for creativity and reflection. BUT I didn’t want to skip an update, so I’m going to focus on the main learnings from this week + also share a new article I’ve written about a fun way to approach lifelong learning.
This week’s focus: try it anyway
After swearing off trying Stardew Valley for the longest time because I’m not a huge fan of the art style, I downloaded it on a whim yesterday… and I kinda understand why people like it now heh.
Farming, foraging, and completing tasks — ah, the cozy life.

But apart from the joy of doing something just for the fun of it, picking up this game reminded me that sometimes it doesn’t hurt to try new or unexpected things. If the barrier is low or inexpensive, and the outcome doesn’t matter too much other way, what’s there to lose?
With a video game, you’re looking at maybe losing $10 and a few hours of your time.
And not everything is a video game, but you can apply the same concept to other areas of your life, like:
Changing up your personal style
Exploring a new hobby or side project
Building a new routine or habit
Trying out a new restaurant
Showing up to a social event alone
Dipping your toe into the world of freelancing
It doesn’t work for everything — I’d never vote in favor of dropping everything and rapidly switching careers, moving across the country, or making major relationship or friendship changes. But for the small things, it might be worth saying “yes” to an idea or two if you can afford the time, energy, and money that it costs.
